We provide a high quality nursery education and other integrated services to children ages 2 to 5 years and their families. This is led by a specialist headteacher and delivered by fully qualified teachers and teaching assistants who hold a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
We place children and their families at the heart of our work. We believe that we should work from children's interests and preferred styles of learning. Getting to know children and families so that we can support each other in the child's educational journey is crucial. Each child is allocated a key worker who maintains this role until the child leaves our Nursery School. Starting nursery at the age of 2 or 3 years can feel very traumatic for a child and their parents. Separating from the person who has looked after you from birth should never be underestimated. For this reason, we have an in depth induction process of bringing children into Nursery School. This results in confident, secure, happy children and parents.
The Nursery School works with other professionals such as health visitors, educational psychologists and speech and language therapists to ensure that all aspects of a child's development can be supported. We also train student teachers and teaching assistants. Many pupils return to us when undertaking further education.
There is considerable evidence that it is high quality early education that makes the difference in raising achievement, particularly for the most vulnerable children. The 2015 OFSTED Early Years report endorses the consistent evidence of other national research that the most effective early education is provided by Nursery Schools. The Nursery School is inspected under the same framework as Primary Schools and has been repeatedly judged Outstanding over the last 10 years.
